My 2000 SRX won't idle right. I get the idle hang every time I rev it up and let it come down, it stays at 3,000 unless I flip the choke to half or blip the throttle. Then it will come down to about 2,000. Sometimes it will rev up on it's own to about 4,000 until the clutch kicks in. Carburetors are SPOTLESS and in sync. I have cleaned them 3 times already this season with 1 mile on the sled all season. I have turned the idle down when it seems too high and then next time it will be idling at 1,000. So I turn it up 1/4 to 1/2 turn on the idle adjustment, and then it tries to idle at 3,000-3,500. I cannot get it to idle at a steady RPM every time. Throttle response seems alright and it's pretty snappy. My Jets are PTO 151.3 and the other two are 150's. Pilot jets are all 3 42.5's. Fuel screws are 2 turns out. It has triple pipes with stingers. Plugs are a little dark but not too bad. I rode it a little tonight and it seemed to be getting a little boggy towards the end like a plug was fouling out. Would an older set of plugs cause the idle hang? I feel kinda dumb not being able to figure this out, but it is bugging the hell out of me.

carbs seem alright from your post. either a cable issue or you have an air leak. older fouly plugs would not cause this. make sure carbs are fully seated in air box and intake boots. make sure you have no dry rot cracks etc. ether or equivelent around all the seals and see if the engine tries to run away thats another way to test for air leaks. thats my best idea anyway...
Maybe the throttle cable's too tight. I'll try loosening it a bit more. There is a little play at the throttle handle. Maybe it's not enough. Could it be related to the TPS?

Thanks guys. I'll check it out when I get a few minutes... I hate winter hours. I go to work and it's just barely light outside and when I get out of work, it's pitch black outside.

u might want to try disconnecting t.p.s. my viper is doing the same thing. i am going to disconnect it tomorrow and see if it is better. sideshow bob had a great write up on this. do a search here for t.p.s. problems. it is the only thing that can explain the weird stuff my sled is doing. they have updated that part twice. my carbs are gorgeous. m,y cable adjustment is fine. sled has fricking 920 miles on it. i will be beside myself if it is not t.p.s.

disconnected t.p.s. sled acted much better. still need to update t.p.s. had to disconnect t.o.r.s. also. people say not to bypass it. somehow not concerned at all. i consider the system a problem not a solution to anything. actually i am going to set it up with just a spring loaded screw like it should be.

Huh...funny the different opinions people have, some seem to never have TORS issues, others feel the need to bypass it. I've been riding nothing but Yammies for about 26-27 years now, never had a single TORS issue. Much rather have the TORS rather than a tether, although the only time in my life I've ever had a stuck throttle cable was on my old yz80 when the throttle cable frayed. I have encountered tether problems before, the rubber "key" that holds the plunger in always seems to dry out and shrink, so it doesn't close the circuit. Pulled the rope on my cousin's sled waaaay too many times before we figured that one out.

ya i really should not bypass it. but i do not see how assembly on rack will not return. has a strong return spring and the chance of cable staying stuck seems extremely small. of course considering murphys law i should not take anything for granted.
