Hello all, Just wanted to share my 78 SRX with you all cause I am so stoked!!
After collecting Yamaha sleds now for about ten years I always wanted an older SRX but just never come across them being here in California they are just rare. I drive by this same house a million times and one day sitting in the driveway I spot it, 1978 SRX and a 79 Enticer. I immediately go to the door and ask about them. These two sleds came with the house when he bought it in 1988 and have been in the dilapidated barn ever since, He just moved them out the day before cause he needed space and wanted them gone. He told me to make an offer and before I could say anything he said "just give me fifty bucks and they are yours" Let's just say money flew from my wallet and the deal was made. Brought them home, poured a liberal amount of premix down the holes and popped right off! It was last registered in 86 and has 1522 miles on it. Does have some aluminum issues and one broken head stud but all there and stock, hood and seat are very nice.

Great find! (with such low miles at least you'll know not much is worn out!- just rusty!!)
Let me know if you need a new long stud (that broken one goes down to the crank case) I'm pretty sure I have some kicking around ;)
Enjoy!

Thanks for all the feedback! Someone noted that the speedo was in km's so 979 miles sounds even better. This one will be torn down this spring and hopefully be on the snow next year. Need to hunt down needed parts so the search is on. I did drive it a whole 20' across the driveway!

Another lost gem will be brought back to life> Very cool! Never know whats lurking in peoples old barns.
