Jack Shaft Help

I was riding tonight and my jackshaft enripper right off taking the chaise case with it. What causes this, and is the special dimensions to getting the jack shaft in?

Was the speedo working prior to this ride?

It's not the speedo bearing shaft it's he one up top. I'd take a pic right now but I'm taking final exams at the moment .lol But yes I did have the speedo. It just snapped the end of the shaft off where the upper gear rides in the chain case, it also ripped the bearing right out of the case

bearing went south on you..overheated the axle and snapped....

cool pics..was there a big noise prior to this.Was the chain in pieces??Wandering if the nut was on the end of shaft since I don't see it in the pic.Maybe nut fell off..causing sproket to start to wobble and then it all went to hell after that..just wandering!!!

where is the top gear and chain??Seems like it all binded or let go under power

thats what i thought the nut fell out and binded evrything up. the chain was good but a little bound up im just gonna replace the chain to be safe.

that is 1 big ugly mess anyways to deal with.

Well i managed to get a shaft with bearing, nut, washer, and case cover for around 100 bones not too bad.

A closer look at where the shaft broke sowed a little rust inside the metal, so it almost looks like it was cracked for a while and i rusted up then couldnt take the constant beating anymore.
