I'm looking for advice, tips, or any general info. on converting a 2001 SRX 700(stock) to a long track. Basically I'd like to know what works and what doesn't. 80 % of my riding is trail. But whenever i choose to go off trail i need to bring a shovel. I really dont want to lose the ability to trail ride @ 80-90 mph. Any ideas or past attempts at something similar would be appreciated.
I'd rather push a Yamaha than ride and Arctic Cat.

i am running a 155" x 2 1/2 on my 98 srx and those speeds are easily reached, but then i have done a bit of work to it. not much of a trail sled though.
in my opinion, its tough to make an off-trail sled from the srx, but it can be done. your wanting the best of both worlds but you need to think about what your willing to give up from each scenario.
if the sled is going to work off trail, you will have to give up some of the on-trail manners and vise versa.
i would entertain a 136 or even a 144, depending one your needs. i have done long track conversions on many models of yamahas from enticers to phazers along with pogo vmaxes up to srx's and vipers and most all the trailing arm sleds.
i have a handle on what works off trail, never much cared what worked on the trail. would more than likely come down to ski/carbide choice and some suspension settings. no problem offering advise, you just need to consider your needs.

My srx ran a 144 x 2. It worked pretty well as a trail sled and mountain sled and was an awesome Mn boondocker. I tossed the pro-action skid and used a polaris with a holz kit in it. Rode so nice and actually got up on the snow. Had a bunch of other things done through the years, but the skid and the 780 motor were the best $$ I spent on that sled.

I run a 144 x 1.5 on my srx and I mostly ride trails in Ontario. This is my second year on this setup and I love it. I have an M-10 suspension in the rear with tipped up rail extensions and I have no problems with it on the trail, the sled is very stable and handles bumps extremely well.

I have had my SRX in several different setups. I ran it as a 136 with extensions and a 1" track. I ran it with a warrior skid and 136 1.5. I ran it as a 144X1.5 with extensions and so on. I found for a mix of groomed trail, ungroomed trail and off trail I like the current set up the best. I have a 136 Xpert X running a 136 X 1.25 Predator with 1.45 studs. I am also using 8 tooth drivers so that I will have zero fron heatexchanger issues. I have run the same set up with the 9 tooth drivers with out issue but I had to run the track tighter than I prefer to prevent any damage.

Hi everyone, I just joined TY's forum. I realize I this post is three years old, but I have a 121" M-10 skid that I was looking at extending to 144", so I wanted to find out if anyone else has done this and get some feedback from people. From what I understand if you extend an M-10 the track with tighten up when the skid compresses. But the M-10 136 has the same torque arm positions as the 121", so it appears you can get away with the problem to a certain length before it's truly problematic. Fast's designed 144" skid appears to have a link from the torque arm to the live rear axle that maintains track tension during compression, so it's probably a legitimate issue. But if you can simply get around the problem by running your track loose with external drivers I am willing to go that route. I would love to get some feedback from people on this before I go down this road. Looking at the Tracks USA tipped up rail extensions for the M-10 suspension. Thanks for any input you have!

Mussel man i just bought a srx with an m10 skid and was just curious what you had to do to get the 1.5 track to work and if that is the max i can go. I plan on doing a 144 extension to it. It looks like this thread might be dead but i hope not

Mussel man hasnt been on in a while Last Activity 11-29-2018 10:26. Im pretty sure you can run stock 9 tooth drivers, youll have to remove the tunnel protectors and exchanger guards. There are tons of threads on track size, use the search function and start a new thread. This forum is one of the best, sadly I think most the guys are moving to the 4 stroke side though.

Removing the front heat exchanger protectors is it.
