Bought studs today for my 97 V-Max. Bought tunnel protectors too.... and the stud hole bit.... seems easy enough to put the protectors in... studs don't seem like they will be too much of an issue (other than a good template, which I don't have), but how do you go about getting to that front heat exchanger? I have some aluminum bar stock here at home I want to use to protect this area... but how the heck do you get at it to drill some holes??? Short of taking the track off, it doesn't look possible...
And where can you get a template online?? I'd like to print one off if possible...

You can do it with the track on. You need to dill and rivet brackets on the bottom underneath the exchanger, just be careful not to drillinto the exchanger. I slid a piece of metal between the aluminum and exchanger when I drilled. Look in catalog and you will see stud patterns you can copy, just mark your lines with a grease pencil. I did mine by sight.

well waterfoul is in trouble . he needs our help
just called me. studs are in but two bolts are seized to the skid-to-tunnel shafts. I told him to retighten the other side, he tried that but said the stuck bolts seem to be gallings/siezed.
any suggestions....... we are getting dumped on herewith snow , plus his sled is at a friends house who is helping him but wants the project done too.....
does heat work.
any other tricks?
or does any one have any parting out shafts if we have to cut the bolts?
I loaded up the impact wrench and right angle grinder and will take a look tomorrow
