I always see people wanting to tune for more power. I want to increase the fuel economy on my 1994 Yamaha Vmax 600 ST 136". It has 1996 Yamaha XT Pipe, carbs and secondary with a Polaris P-85 primary from a XCR 600. I am getting around 5 or so mpg.

If you are getting only 5 mpg, there is a problem somewhere. Those sleds have low fuel economy, but if everything is working correctly, it should do better than that. How does the sled run? What is the history, did you buy it with the modifications? Have the carbs been tuned to the sled?

Any or all of the added parts may not be working correctly on your particular sled. If fuel economy is your major concern and you have the old parts, it may be best to put them back on - you should then get double that mileage.

Everything upgrade was done per recommendations on this sight. I am not good at tuning and need to find someone to tune it.

some times it is conditions as it will burn more gas in loose snow. brothers sx500r 136" would only get 5-6 mpg when conditions where loose. on good hardpack he would get 7-8 mpg.

how is the tac behaving? is it shifting out to 7800rpm peak? are the clutches really hot after a ride?

that is damn poor, our 96 vmax 800 got about that and it was running rich. compression good? really sounds like something is up. skis aligned? track as loose as it can go without ratcheting?
