I just picked up a 01 mtn max 700 for my wife. It did not want to run unless the choke was on. Cleaned the carbs and tried again. It will idle now but needs choke to get over the big to drive. Did I miss something while doing the carbs?
Also did compression test 112,110,108psi. Sounds low. How low tell you would rebuild? Speedo don't work and guessing it has about 12,000 km on it

Typical healthy redhead motor has 125lbs compression. 108 sounds low
but a leakdown test is the best way to check the rings condition. In the tech
section is a write up on doing a leakdown test.

mine was 112 new ,now 135 with a peak head and peeled gasket and 11,000 miles

Cleaned the carbs a second time and now it runs great. Much have had some extra gunk get into the pilot jet.
