I don't know how many of you run premium fuel in your sled, but I do- having pipes on my Viper, and I thought the SRX's required it too. I just keep wondering about how old the premium fuel is at the gas station. Do you know anyone that runs premium in their car? I can't say I do. Most people don't even want to pay for 87 octane let alone 91. I'm thinking it's a better idea to just get the 87, (which you know is fresh) and add octane boost. But then you hear the stories about octane boost not being all it's cracked up to be. Maybe I'm just being anal... :letitsnow

there isnt a octane booster made thats gonna turn 87 into 93 octane.

you could bump up 87 to 93 by mixing in race fuel but not booster you buy at a autoparts store.

your playin with fire using 87, gonna be expensive to fix! :o|

We dont even have a 91 pump... amsoil 2000 octane booster puts 87 octane up to 94 and its under $10 a bottle

7 points does not equal octane. That's not how it works. One point is equal to 0.1 octane number [(R+M)/2]. 10 points is only 1 octane or 1 point equals 1 tenth.

I know around here (VT and NY) alot of time when you find a gas station that has premium, it doesn't have the ethenol in it. A huge bonus I think. When you look back before they had ethenol, carbs didn't get destroyed in any small engine as easily as it does now-a-days. So my thinking behind it is premium without ethenol that has been sitting in the tank for a while is going to be better then that fresh 87 octane crap that is chucked full of ethenol. Also my local gas station carries it basically for us guys with sleds and has an above ground tank which I think is also another bonus. just my .02

AWWWW. Il go back into my cave now

Thanks, I got quite a bit out of that thread. A lot of people are saying it doesn't get stale in the ground in large quantities, although I read somewhere on here that fuel loses octane the older it gets
