Last summer on my Viper project I installed a set of 5.7 dual carbide Pilot skis. I put 6" shapers on the inside and 4" super stocks on the outside. I just got a good chance to run them today and I have to say they are great. No darting or hunting and they hook in the corners great. I had the opportunity to ride them back to back on the same trail with the wife's AC zl with stock skis and 6" woody's and there was no comparison the Pilots were way better. Just thought I report on this incase someone might want to consider the Pilot's.

I got the wider ones from a summit on mine with a 6" on the outside and a wear bar on the inside with a 3rd carbide kit in the middle. Great ski and there very strong as well.

Mine were new but I believe they are for 06-07 MXZ's they had hole for carbide in the middle and on the outside. I got the carbide sizes from the guys at studboy as they are only about 10mile from my house. I'm very happy with them.

Do these bolt directly on or what mods are necessary to convert to Pilots? I am considering a similar project.

Pretty much, you'll need 2 new bump stops (ski rubbers) from a zx chassis ski doo. I ordered new as they were $15 ea new and if I did ebay they were atleast $10 ea plus shipping used. Also you'll need 2 longer spindle to ski bolts I believe they are 120mm (i just ordered the ones for a 06-07 mxz as that's what those pilots are made for) new they were like 2 bucks each. Other then that it was a direct bolt on. I think I got a couple pics of mine installed, if you can pm me your email I'll send you the pics. I don't know how to resize pic to go on here.

Easy swap, i did it on my sons Viper ..........
I kept the same spacers that were on the skis , but mounted them inside out !
I had to readjust camber as the skis were not leveled , did a ski alignment, and that was about it ...... kept the same rubber , used longer bolts .......
Really easy , cheap swap .........and it handles very well now, no darting !

Oh ya I forgot, I had to flip the bushing only on one side and the width was right on with the spindle.

I found a pair of black Pilot 5.7's with under 600 miles with carbides. I should have them Friday. There was a pair of Pilot 6.9's locally. I thought they might be the ticket for the viper. They are wider and offer more flotation which I thought may be beneficial for the slightly heavier engine, but I decided I didn't want my stance to be any wider on the trailer.
Thanks for the information guys!! I guess I'll need to make a trip to the Doo dealer for mounting hardware.
