I think I blew it up today. Something has been knocking inside the engine at idle for a while. I think it's because I put 87 octane gas in and it was spark knock. Am I wrong to think that? But I was riding around the house and it bogged out and died. It started right back up but is very doggy and when I try to give it gas, it just backfires at me. (not TORS, it's disabled.) It was dark out by then so I didn't get to pull plugs etc... I'm hoping it maybe just got hot and overheated as it was a little low on coolant, but the heat exchangers didn't seem HOT HOT. I had the TPS unplugged so the idiot light was flashing at me. It seemed to be running excellent, then bog and died. What's weird to me, is that when I started it the time before, none of the dash lights were working nor the headlight. (100% sure it's not a harness issue). I shut it off, started it again. Nothing. Shut it off, let it sit a few minutes, started it, and everything was working again. Could I have done something electrical by running it with the TPS unplugged? And by the way, the idle issue went away with the TPS unplugged. I could set it at a certain RPM and it would come down to it every time. I'm going up today to tinker a little on it. Hope to figure it out.

I myself would NEVER put 87 octane in my 00 SRX! Under the extreme scenario where I had to there would be octane booster as well. With todays fuel unstability and already prone to burn down the couple of bucks more out of pocket for premium in my mind is MANDATORY. I dont get it, people will drop several grand on a sled, spend more time and money modding it to put the cheapest gas in the tank. I hope you only have a rub threw but I kinda doubt it.

STILL SOUNDS LIKE HARNESS SOMEWHERE, AND DON,T TAKE THIS PERSONALLY, BUT WHY RUN 87 OCTANE. DO YOU GUYS HERE LIKE TO PLAY WITH FIRE ? 3:16 (yammie tony)

He has a couple of threads going right now. In the other thread he states he had complete harness out, covered every inch of it, retaped with 2 layers of tape and loom protector. That he has 2 miles on sled since harness put back in. Is/was having issue's with head lights not working.

Tony what do you not like about fire?

I would pull the pipes off first. See if you have some nice lil shinney aluminuim pieces of the pistons in there. Should be able to pull the springs off enought to get a look in there.

The dead give away might be "Something has been knocking inside the engine at idle for a while"! That would be something to stop and look at right away, not after it dies. Sounds like a piston, rod or crank to me.

I feel like an idiot, but I gotta say this. It was running out of gas lol... I got 6 gallons of 93 octane and it runs fine now. Only issue I have is that the idle is all over the place with the TPS plugged in. Unplug it, and the idle is fine.

ADJUST YOUR THROTTLE CABLE AND YOU WILL BE ABLE TO PLUG YOUR TPS BACK IN. 3:16 (yammie tony)

Isn't this what your having problems with?
