I just installed my 136 track and....

found out that the skid that I was sold as a 136" is not 136". Or at least it isn't the same length as the 136" skid in my other sled. I pulled the 136" track off my 700sx to put a 144" in it. I figured I'd use the 136 in my Phazer II, I bought a 136" x10 from ebay. Today after 2 months of dinking around with this project I put the track in and then the skid in, after moving the adjusters all the way out, I've still got way to much slack, looks like the skid is about 2 - 3" shorter than the 136 skid in my 700.

The seller said the skid was out of a '98 Polaris RMK. Could this be a 133"? It's definately longer than a 121 or a 128.

Should I just relocate the holes further back, or get an extension?
 
Thanks, I was just looking for a site like that. Since it looks like that is what it is, I'm going to try relocating the holes further back instead of an extension. Cheaper and I won't have to wait around for them.
 
Thanks Jason. I used the measurements from that site, they're good. I know because, they are the measurements I used for the 136" skid I put in my 700sx last year. But I just thought I had a 136" and I apparently have a 133.5". So I've decided since it is only a little ways back I will redrill the holes to fit the 133.5".
 
now you are looking for trouble now.Won't the rails be further back from the drivers making it easier for track and rails to contact..stabbing !! The space between the drivers and front of rails will be greater now and if you hit a hard drift or object,the track will flex more into the tips.Might need anti-stab wheels then to prevent that from happening.
 
Maybe. If my math is right I don't have to move them back that far. If I do need anti-stab wheels I've got enough spare parts & wheels to make them. I haven't pulled the skid back out yet, but once I do, I'll compare the 2 skids and see how much different they are in length, and go from there.
 
Well it is an EXTRA 10. Extra work. You should only have to move holes back 1.25" hopefully the plates in there r big enough to not move them too.
 
Well after fooling around with it all day, and asking around to a few of my friends and posting 3 different forums. I've concluded that the 133.5 x10 mounts further back than the 136" x10. After doing the math and testing it by mocking up the skid and also comparing with a 136" nearest i can tell, the 133.5 needs to be moved back 3.0625" from the 136" holes I drilled. The 133.5" uses the same front holes as the a 121" x10, which is 1.8125" further back then the 136 holes, but to move it back to fit a 136" it needs go back 1.25" further than that, hence 3.0625". Should have great approach angle!
 
No problems with moving back that far. I relocated a proaction in the 01 SXR back 3.5". I like the new skid location. What track are you using? Al
 
A 136x1.25" Ripsaw. In actuality, the skid will only be back 1.25" from stock position, so that doesn't worry me at all. What had me confused at first was that since I drilled the front holes for a 136 but had a 133.5 skid, the math would mean only 1.25 difference, but I was seeing a much bigger difference. Now I know why, the 133.5 stock mounted back further than a 136.
 
Well the skid looks great. Too bad there's no snow around here to go for test ride. I'd go up north, but it's warm there too, and besides it's my son's birthday party on Saturday, so even if there was snow up there, I'd be staying home.
