Just wondering is all. I bought a new MM in 01 and didn't really pay attention until about now...
Also, is the viper built on the same under framework as the mountain max or is it different?
Thanks

did it replace it? only yamaha knows for sure. the mtn max was dropped from the lineup after 03, same year the mtn viper came out.
tunnel and skid were the same between the two models that year with the viper mtn getting skid refinements in later years. many chassis parts can be crossed over from between the two to build a better mtn max.

They still made the mm 700 in 04. It came in like a purple color with a black belly pan I think this was last year.

I may be wrong but I always thaught the mtn max (vmax?) lead the way to mtn viper. With the launch of the mtn viper line they prolly didnt need 2 mtn line sleds.

near as i can tell they made the mm up until 04 (04 being the last yr) and it was slighty diff bore and stroke then the viper (viper having a longer stroke but smaller bore) and had the shorter 141 track as oposed to the viper 144.

no mtn maxes available in the US in 04. 03 was the last year.
the aforementioned purplish model was the 600. they dropped that after 02.

I've seen several 04 700 mm's for sale that were the purple color, view I haven't looked into whether they were Canadians sleds or from the US

In 03 it was also the launch year for the RX-1 platform and the RX-1 mountain was also in the line. There were 3 mountain sleds that year and the mountain max was the bottom of the line
