I have a problem keeping belts on my SRX. Seems like every 500 miles I lose one. I have had the clutch's aligned and it still continues. Any suggestions?

Yamaha belts? Is the clutch realy hot to touch after it blows. Many miles on the sled.Is there black marks almost to the top of the priamary?Shake the moter shake the seconday to see if they are both tight than get into the clutchs to check for worn pins and bushings in the rollers weights and caps.

Do you get stuck in powder doing off trail riding a lot? Trying to get unstuck is a lot of wear on the belt my friend had that problem last year with his Rx-Warrior.

Checking it out every 50 miles or so for abnormal wear might point you in the direction of what going on. What does the rest of the broken one look like? Delaminating? Burring or chaffing? unuasal semi circular spots?Have you tried different brands of belts?

gearing and clutching stock in sled?

when it blows where, like top speed long pulls or what?

TWO THINGS CAUSE THIS EXCESSIVE HEAT OR MOTOR/ BELT ALIGNMENT. IF YOUR BLOWING THE YAMAHA 8DN BELT, YOU HAVE A REAL ISSUE, THAT BELT A ROCK. I HAVE USED ONE 8DN BELT ON TWO SRX,s FOR 5 YEARS. 3:16 (yammie tony)

Sorry about not replying but have not been out of touch with a puter. I have used different belts and they all do the same thing. Delamination from heat is what I have been told. The clutches were checked for alignment. This is my second 8Dn belt. I will take it in to have the alignement checked again and go from there. Have not been stuck enough to burn up the belt and it usually happens after a high speed pass on a lake or other open area. Thanks everyone for all your response. When and if I find the problem will post it. Thanks

Check your front shock up mount belly pan plug to make sure it's not missing. It's a small round plug that allow you to remove the shock upper bolt. If missing snow can make it's way to the clutch causing slippage and excessive heat.
