Nearly brand new plug fouling?

Found my problem was a fouled spark plug. It was running rough at idle. The oil cable was way out of adjustment from the previous owner.

The fouled plug was odd though. I only noticed it because upon looking at the plugs after a 10 minute test ride, one appeared wet. They were all brand at the beginning of the season, and I've only ridden 50 miles. The plug that was "fouled" also had no oil buildup, and looked brand new. Yet swapping in another plug took care of it. The one I put in looked awful, black buildup, but runs strong.

Anyone ever notice this? Its a BR9ECS. Is there any way to "unfoul" a plug, like a propane torch?

They actually have a tool out there that sand blasts the plug. Plug Cleaner I have heard of peaple just taking a little bit of sand paper and also cleaning them that way. I guess it all depends on the type of person you are. Some like to clean them, some people say go out and but a new one. All depends on your preference.

here in wisconsin br9ecs run atleast $4.50 a piece

That's not a bad price for BR9ECS, but still overpriced for a spark plug. I just run BR9ES plugs and mostly don't have any issue. Yes, they may foul out easier and more often, but for the price I will stick with BR9ES.

Keeping in mind this is MY opinion. Opinions are like butholes.....Every one has one and ifs different than yours they usuaully stink. Per your previous posts your running 87 octane and br9es in your sled. Did your sled piss you off? How much did you spend on sled? How much time and money have you spent on mods for performance? All to save a few bucks on plugs and gas. Theres a reason yami recomends premium and br9ecs. I would LOVE to hear from anyone telling me MY OPINION is WRONG.

If you read a little bit more, you would have seen that 87 was the ONLY FUEL AVAILABLE in my area and I needed to get it moved from where it was. I put less than 2 miles on it with 87. It was either do that, or don't get the sled at all. I do know now to put premium only fuel in. It was an honest mistake putting 87 in, but I had no other choice at the time.

There are NO PERFORMANCE MODS on this SRX. And actually, I have a performance de-mod. I am running triple stingers instead of the stock can because the previous owner has not given it to me yet. It's in the back of a barn.

Should I run premium plugs? Probably. Is it going to hurt anything by NOT running premium plugs? Doubtful. Other than having to replace 3 plugs per season instead of 0.

lol. I just got raped on BR9ECS at dealer. $12.50 each. Welcome to Canada.
pshew! 12.50 x 3 = $37.50 + tax for 3 plugs. coulda got someone to ship a whole box of them for that much. lol

my 2 cents

I hava had problems with the br9es with the screw on cap. it makes a bad connection sometimes. Ecs I believe is the solid cap solid electrode. I have had much better luck. :2strokes:

same price here. and to get them shipped to NL it costs a fortune. Read somewhere that the e3 plugs are very good at not fouling. But again cant get them around here

I get the BR9ES with the solid top and not the screw on. Still pay less than $2.50 a plug.

BR9ECS here is about $7-8 a piece. I found a deal at bond auto, had 50% off purchases over $50, and I got a whole box of 10 for $31. Sold the extras on ebay, but wish I had kept some now that I see they're fouling!

For sure but I needed them right now. Gonna order some spares from the US and a belt. Was gonna buy a new Yamaha belt and it's $130.00 plus 13% tax. No thanks.lol
