How thick are they generally? I want to do a single setup for an 01 sxr 700 and in the tech notes I was reading to change both rivots and add 2 shims

Does anyone know where I can get them in Canada?

Not sure about where to get them in Canada, but I know I just tried ordering 3 shims from two popular Yamaha website and they are a discontinued item based on part number 90201-45592 which I was given off this site. I did finally locate a dealer that had 3 in stock so I have them on hold. They won't be getting any more though from what I understand. Not sure if that's true or not...

I'm trying the same setup on my 01 SXR 700. Man, putting the new rivet's in the weights was a pain in the butt. They do not look pretty, but they wont be falling out anytime soon.

crap,i put in 3,my dealer had to look em up in the book, had no problem ordering them,i can measure one if u need it,what happens running 3?

What?

Engagement shims can be a heck of a lot thicker than .019. I've seen them like 5mm thick. For testing purposes you can cut them out of schedule 80 PVC pipe. When you get the thickness you desire go ahead and order an aluminum one.......or turn your own down on a laithe.

if you guys need some shims let me know you can also get from thunder products they come in a kit with 2 special one that are coated so the springs to not bind you can only put 3 shims in that the max or you get spring bind,

i've used as much as 8mm w/o coil bind. it all depends on the primary spring. put shims in & reassemble clutch. put clutch in a press ( arbor press works great ) & compress to full shift. as long as spring colis aren't touching your good to go.
