Need some advice. Hit a rock yesterday and split the bottom edge of my front heat exchanger. Only ran another mile or so before I stopped to wait for a friend was still idling fine, then immediately shut it down. Got towed back and only started to get on the trailer. How hard is this to replace? Any advice on getting it in and out. anybody ever weld one? How much of a chance that I hurt the motor? If I ran it to get it on and off the trailer could have hurt the water pump?

The motor should be fine as far as the heat exchanger is concerned your best bet is to get it welded. Replacing it is a fair amount of work and involves removing the engine entirely.

like Snopax said try and weld it or have someone weld it, its your best bet depending on how bad it is. If you have to replace it its going to be a good amount of money and its gonna be a pain in the *** to take it out.

many posts on here about it... find a person or shop that can weld it.. lift rear of sled nice n high.. clean it up and start welding ... piece of cake.. dont even think about doing it the other way.. this is to easy... i wouldnt worry a bit about heating up motor .. make sure you bleed coolant at the end..

Thanks for the help guys. We tried to weld but just started to melt away. Got it pulled it out and it was split on both front and back sides. The belly pan had some pretty bad damage :o(. I ordered one from Al's and they sent me the wrong one. Any help on finding one would be super appreciated. Thanks again!!!!!
