could a srx with a long travel sxr suspension and a zx2 skid ever be considered a good rough trail sled. Would it be better than an apex considering the less weight and apex had similar suspension?

Defination of ruff trail? I have a 00 srx 700 with pioneer long travel under it and it handles the bumps better than my 00 sxr700 or any of the vmaxs I have had recently. We run alot of seasonal roads that arent plowed and are beat to hell by other sleds.

Add a taller seat and bars and maybe some lightweight parts as well and yes it would be an awesome rough trail sled.
ruff trail is the un groomed 2-3-4ft moguls bever dams ect. I have an apex with the zx2 and bottom it out often and actually destroyed the old rtx skid anyways I was thinking for a project sled mainy for the ruff an srx could work prformance with yamaha reliability or is there a better reliable sled to consider? I got an zx2 and lookong something to put it under.

Not familar with the zx2 skid. My srx with pioneer is way better in the ruff stuff than the stock 00sxr. I also have benderquik steer in the srx which makes steering threw it a lil better as well. All about set up and how much you want to spend.
