what would cause the gas gauge to stop working all other electrical and gauges are working is it like a sending unit?how much cake to fix?

check and make sure the plug is attached. you can ohm the sending unit out.
full tank would show 4-10 ohms
empty 90-100 ohms.
for test purposes if you dont want to drain the tank, you can fish the float in the tank with a wire to raise and lower to simulate fuel level.
your looking for a plug behind the airbox with a green wire and a black wire. replacements run aboout $50. the bolts securing the sender screw into a grommet type affair and can sometimes kick your but trying to get them out.
