So lately i have been seeing alot of vipers being parted out because of broken cranks and crank related issues with around 3000 miles on them.
Does anybody know what some causes to this are?? Or if there is a way to prevent this?
I have alot of money invested in my mod viper and it only has 2600 miles. I plan on putting more time and money into it because i could never sell it.
But... sure would be a real nightmare if it had a crank failure.
Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated...
Thank you

proper maintence is the key. ive never heard of any defining problems with viper cranks. make sure your jetting is good use good gas etc. and if your nervous richen up your oil cable a little from stock. stock is 20.5 im at 19mm myself vipers do run lean from the factory on oil

Whether you use fogging oil,thw tug on oil cable trick or the atf trick. SUMMERIZATION is critical. Long gone are the days of letting the snow mel out from under them and wait 8-9 months for more. I feel alot of crank issues have to do with corosion over the summermonths and then guys try to run them with dirty pilots. Recipe for disaster

Have 5000 on mine with no problem, same with my last one. My brother has one with 6500 and another with almost 10,000 on it. Just maintained well and no problems yet, my brothers previous owners were pretty rough on equipment also. X2 on using good gas and oil

All to often we hear, I dont know why it blew up. Havent cleaned the carbs in years, I always run 87 and Whats fogging oil. I just start it every couple weeks for a few minutes all summer long. On the good note low mileage parts (other than engine) are readily available!

I sold my Viper with 10k plus miles on the original motor that ran like a top. Key to long life is clean carbs/valves every preseason, and good summarization in the spring!
