For the spider, what is the difference between these 2 part #'s? I am looking for a spider for my 2000 SRX 700.

8CA-17640-12-00 Parts Fiche # Yamaha
8BW-17640-02-00 Can get a cheap used one with this part# only.

8CA ONE YA NEED. TAKES 15.6 ROLLERS. NOW, TELL YA WHAT I THINK THE DIFFERENCE IS AND I MIGHT BE WRONG. SMALL ALLEN SET SCREWS FOR ROLLER PINS ARE NOT ON 8BW SPIDER. THEY ARE ON 8CA. (i think) 3:16 (YAMMIE TONY)

8bw has place for set screw as well based on the picture sent to me. Diameter for the certain rollers is what concerns me.

Sorry. I did not mean to stump the experts.

This purchase does not include set screws... Does not mean that they are not included originally from Yamaha. The set screws holes are there. Are there any differences in diameters for the rollers? Anybody? Bueller?

8ca's will be your 97 and up clutch with the 9mm rollers and the better bushing on the cover. the 8bw clutches are pre-97, some may have the weak wobbly cover bushing and use the 8mm pins. the spider will fit your clutch, the problem will lie with rollers. not as popular anymore and may be hard to find. 97 and up covers will fit the pre-97 clutches.

not sure what your using it on but personally i would shy away from anything pre 97.

It's for a 200 SRX 700. I have the cover, just need the spider. If stock pins and rollers will not fit, I guess I will have to go with 8ca's.

Here is the deal, in 94 the part # started with 8bw, I dont know what was stamped on them I think it was 88r and had 8mm pins, I have three srx/ viper clutches in the shop and they all have 9mm rollers and are stamped 8bw but the part # starts with 8ca, so as long as it has 9mm pins you should be good to go.

Thanks. Ya think Yamaha would have their sh*t together. No confusion ordering piano strings from Yamaha, however :EXER: .

Geeze.

Yep why not make it easy, I am dealing with this same problem on a skidoo, the part # is clearly stamped on it but they just cant seem to identify it and cant find it, go figure.

i have the same problem, yes, you made me look at my spare parts, and i have spiders stamped 8bw holding 9mm pins.

cross referenced my material and again found some inconsistencies in my notes. but, apparently the best way to be sure is to confirm the roller pin diameters, and at some point along the line the slider button or sleave configuration. go figure.

Bought a new one for $74 bucks. Also bought a new sliding sheath with bushing for same price just for good measure as the old one had egg shape hole (ever so slightly) for the new bushing I put in.

So I go the 8BW Spider but the hole for the crank snout looks bigger. Don't have the sled here to check, but it looks big. Can anybody verify it is the right diameter. The very inside measures 29.50 mm. Part number is 8BW-17640-02-00 and spec is 8CA.

cranks are 30mm so that is correct, that spider is from a 94 vmax 600 with 8mm pins, does the movable sheave have a removable brass bushing?

The moveable sheave does have a bushing that can be removed. The holes for the pins on the spider are 8 mm. Same with the pins on the moveable sheave. I suppose I am going to have to drill out 9 mm holes on the spiders for my pins that are coming out of the 8ca Spider.
