Does anyone know if I can remove/replace the stator without removing the engine and without special tools? If a puller is needed where could I buy one?
The dealer said the v belt broke and ruined the stator, I brought the sled in (not running) as a trade on a new sled. The dealer said the sled has no value but they'd be OK with me just leaving it there (thanks).
What happened was I bought an engine that had melted the recoil, threw on a recoil and no spark.

Need a puller to remove the flywheel and yes you can do this in the sled but it would be easier with engine on the bench.

Can easily be done with the engine in the sled. Did it three times in my old 97 Vmax.
You need an engine damper puller. You can buy that at any autoparts store.
