Not my sled but a real cool build with some outstanding workmanship.

Thought some of you tripple freaks who don't visit Vintage sleds would enjoy it.
Not done yet but getting very close.

It is hard when I see a nice condition survivor going to a home when I know they'll run it into the ground. One has to realise they are just sleds and you can not save them all besides, you have to have appreication for what this guy did and this will probably in itself save other Exciters.

I think this is great!! I love it when we mix the looks of the '70's with the engines and suspensions of the new. I would love to do this someday. Look at the new edition of Snowmobile magazine to see a similar creation with a early '70's Doo.

It's basically done and on the snow now (pics are up on the link). I'm really impressed with what he did and how he did it. The pics are awsome. It has to be one of the best looking Yammie tripples I've ever seen. Will draw attention for sure and will probably be one wild ride.

If the factory came out with something like that for 2013 I'd order one in a heartbeat!!!

Reply to banditcj7 and Vmax540; I don't know either one of you,and likewise you don't know me. So if what I have to say offends you, I apologize in advance. I have been an avid snowmobiler for over 40 years and during that time I have owned over 40 sleds. 14 of these sleds were purchased new, and the remainder of sleds were used sleds that I rebuilt, restored, made into modified race sleds or built customs from them. I have never owned a sled that was trashed or run into the ground. My sleds are maintained constantly and kept in as near perfect condition as possible. Why would you both assume that I would be trashing and destroying this sled just because I made a very fast custom out of it? Do you reallize that there were probably 50,000 or so Exciters made over the years and they are really not a rare sled by any means. I can buy them all day long for $100-$800 in any condition. So I will not feel guilty for building this sled, and you two can buy all of the other 49,999 and restore them and sell them for $600 bucks each and lose money on every one of them. If you are offended, so be it, Because I am very offended by the remarks you made about me.

kallio; Yes my son posted one on vintagesleds.com under pics of my 77 Exciter project in the customs section. Its not the best because the wind was blowing pretty bad that day. Go to the beginning of this thread, and the site is posted.

nice cool project there wayneo..real good skills you have.Sled looks super hot!!!How many hours do you think you have on this build..certainly looks well worth the effort.I would love to do something like this to an older SRX perhaps. Now that you have conquered the first build on this Exciter, you can go buy all the Exciters out there cheap and go into production...lol.
Well documented build and you did a #1 job is all I can say...wicked!!! Keep up the good work..

Reply to bluemonster; I didn't keep track of the hours. I have been working on it for 11 mos. I would guess probably 6-800 hours maybe. I did everything myself except some of the painting and redoing the seat. I never have help with my builds unless it is something that I just can't do. Thanks for the nice comments. Wayne

Wayne, Wow..... you certainly took my comments the wrong way..... heck, I am beyond impressed !

You must have thought wrong on the bold because I was speaking of seeing an older sled going to some kid who would rather go over trees than around them.....
