this might be a stupid question but can u blow a motor if u run it without a power valve working
im asking this because i went on a trip and i came bak and found out the cable went on one of the valves, i felt the sled dint have the right revs about 2 hours from my destination thats y i opened it up when i got home

A stuck valve(pull through) can cause a piston to melt, because it shrinks the exhaust passage. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

The rpms will be lower with a valve not opening.

I've never heard of that happening. A loss in rpms and WOT power but not a cause for burn down. If left un-serviced for a lengthy period it may vibrate it's way into the cylinder.

just take the valves out for now..safer that way.I know modsrx does't have his working..he tied them all in full open.Slight hestiattion at low end but he is still pulling 111 mph on his 98 SRX on radar..that is good..

I was wandering why Yamaha made the PV's to be operated thru a cable system .Why didn't they just have them mounted on a spring loaded system. The more you open her up..the pressure would push the valves more open, you let off the gas and slow down..the valves would return..seems simple to me..lol

aight so it shouldnt burn a piston then

if someone made a gas operated powervalve conversion for yamahas i might buy them! less weight, probably easier to adjust too.

This is how Rotax does it on my Seadoos.

pull them out, i ran my viper on water all summer with them out. there was a slight low end hesitation but you can work around it. no motor issues at all

how much hesitation are you really having??If it is so small..then maybe we should really pull the valves out of our sleds.Less maintenance an money saved overall on valve fix's,cables, servo motors,pv cleaning and adjusting time..etc

Pull the powervalve out it will damage the Piston like melt it, to be safe just just take out the powervalve then clean the powervalves and the whole you insert the powervalve in so it does not stick again.
it will not burn nothing running without it ...but its not the way to go ....better screw them open if u doesnt want them to work ....will have a bit less power in low rpm ...for sure its better to keep them working so they lower the exhaust duration on bottom end keeping better low response

what do you guys think about removing the spring that holds the valve closed.
