Wet sand a primary ?

I have some old 1983-87 Comet 102's which I took apart to replace all the worn parts. The sheeves are discolored from the years and some have small imperfections. Can I use a flat block with very fine sandpaper and wet sand ? Thanks for your thoughts.

yes chuck, and spray it with parts cleaner. come out like new. 3:16 (YAMMIE TONY)

Thanks Tony ! The spray parts cleaner sounds like a good idea maybe brake cleaner or carb cleaner will take off some of the black stains ?

Sandblast or beadblast it if you have access to that. Use starting fluid or brakekleen to hose it off.
