This is my first time rebuilding anything and I have a question;

I bought a brand new OEM Yamaha piston off Ebay, when I received it, it appeared to have been dropped. The top of the piston edge has a small ding in it about a 1/4" long.

Can I still use it?
Should I stone it down smooth?
Can I just leave it the way it is?

I tried to upload pics., but it told be my file was too big????

I would try to send it back and get a refund. That's not the way you want to start out.

As for the picture thing, go to the sight below and download the image resizer. Once you do that you can right click on an image, select resize then make it usable for this site.

When you put that piston in (hopefully a different one) make sure you check ring end gap, and make sure your circlips are at the 12 or 6 O Clock position. Don't let the circlip ends stick out into the indent.

Post the auction link. Wow, shady seller? If it arrived like that I would argue it. But if I dropped it, I would massage it and run it. The top rides on the rings, the bottom would be a different story.
