My srx clutch seized up solid yesterday, I have put about 25 miles on and before yesterday but I was trying a new clutch setup with 14.5 rollers and 8ca weights, I barly made back to the shop and the clutch was so hot it turned snow to steam instantly,I got it cooled down and got it off and the movable sheave was stuck bad on the spider,I had to use a hammer and a block of wood to get it apart, in all the years of running yamaha I have never seen this happen, it will not go back togeather as the movable sheave and bushing is swelled smaller than the spider,anyone ever seen this?

I dont have any pics of it stuck as I had to use a 2 lb hammer and a block of wood to get it apart and I had to pound very hard, I have another spider and it will not go in either so it is for sure the movable sheave that is swelled, I ordered a new sheave today.

crazy but got to find out what happened before you put new sheave on..haven't heard or seen something like this before.

Must have been smoking the belt to get that hot?? Where did you order your new movable sheave? I just found a crack in mine....
Yes this is crazy,the only thing I did was put in14.5mm rollers so I took them back out and put the 15.6 back in, dont want this to happen again,the belt wasnt new but was good but now I think it is cooked,the clutch was stuck all the way in when I opened the hood and was smokin hot,when I put the puller in it came back about 1/2-3/4 inch and locked up like it was welded. I ordered the sheave from dealer orders.com

can't blame the 14.5 rollers on this.I have switched to them also with my HC's years back.If anything the clutch would clamp the belt tighter..so slipping would be at a minimum...still curious what happened here..
ya I figured that, I just want to undo everything till I get it figured out.
I have a pic of the primary sheave,my secondary has a bender 49-45 with green spring,for some reason I wraped it to 80 degrees, I had cleaned and deglazed it before this run and it still looks like it never opened,I cant post pics of the sheave but I can send it via email.

bushing binding or the little black glides my be worn to much or even broken or even 1 missing..causing it to bind.You are saying that the secondary hasn't opened..that is strange.If it didn't open,there should be super black marks where the belt was burning going around..

These 8ca dont look to have much mass at the tip and I am starting to wonder if that may be the problem, I am running them with 4.5 heel and tip open,I was running the secondary at 60 and it seemed to work OK but when I went to 80 the problem started, blue pm me and I will send pics.
