Can you port on a viper and still run pump gas ? Any advantages or not? Who is good at porting? I am running slp pipes on it.

Contact MrViper on here. He did a mild or trail port job on my Viper. Very pleased with the work and performancelhviper said:Can you port on a viper and still run pump gas ? Yes, if mild or trail porting. Any advantages or not? You bet. Increased power. Very noticeable in the midrange. Who is good at porting?

I have Mrviper stage 2 Viper cyls with rechambered srx heads and CPR pipes. the sled performs real well, cant give you an honest comparison to a stock cyl piped viper as I bought this sled and got it set up this way before ever riding it with stock cyls.

Have SLP's and Mr.Viper trail port. More mid-range grunt. No loss in mileage. Seeing 8.5mpg on a 136" Hartman kit, mainly aggressive trail riding.

"flow by bo" ported mine and many others. He use to port most of megapowers motors. I never had anything but a fast bad *** sled after porting, first it was just ported then a 780 ported with cpr pipes. Dont hesitate porting if its done right really wake this sled up

Nope you cant run 87........., you cant run 87 in a bone stock viper for long, or its gonna bite you right in the butt! mid grade 91 minimum is what any stock viper should have. With todays lousy fuel I wouldnt run anything except 93 in one and then I add octane booster to each fill up. 1 piston failure will be far more expensive then any gas cost...guaranteed!
porting a sled in general lamens terms lowers the compression by opening up and holding open the exh port longer, so with most you have to raise the compression some to get back what you lost in the now longer duration exh. port...however, a viper has pretty high compression ratio stock so you can do a trail port and not raise the compression and still pick up power. There are a couple other places that refined yield power increases on the cylinders besides just the exh port.

Performance is all about the package deal. Little gains here and there add up to one large gain in the end.
Along with porting, you should also look at clutching. A well clutched Viper with porting, torque limiter and a well running skid will keep a smile on your face all day long.
