LIFE MEMBER ONLY ONCE!!!
Well the SRX ran great today,Was cooler in the morning and sled just purrs.Tried some different set ups.Only could hit 105 on speedo today. The 8bu-10's were not to bad..pull midrange to 100 is great.Tried w-w-w and y-w-y primary spring. Both set ups were over revving to about 8700 wot.Sort of liked the stock spring better. Then changed to 8dn-20's..4.5 inner and 5.5 outer with 51/43 Green at 70.I'll tell ya that pulls pretty damn strong.Sort of like it better then the 8bu-10's.Actually was a little faster then the bu's.There is just no place to launch with good traction, once I dig thru the snow I am spinning on the ice.My belt is climbing up in the primary to 1/4"from the top and clutch's are totally cool to the touch. No coolant leaked today because my bottle is still on the line.BUT does she suck fuel.Put on 106 miles today and headed home because fuel gauge needle about 1/8"from line.Probably still good for another 20 miles.
SRX took me out and brought me back no issues..Did see a SXViper today...usually don't see Yami's here.A couple of Doos and a few Cats to boot..but the bumps really were felt on the old beast.I probably will put on my long travel shocks I have on the SRX for next year..try to make extensions for the ohlins up front and just ride the reliable beast..less wot and more fun riding and a little hill climbing I think also..Great day all around...

Blue, what is the stock rivet configuration of those 8dn-20's? I have a set and would like to try them in my 98 when I get my clutch fixed.

normally it is 3.6 in and 4.5 out,but from factory it will over rev..so replace 3.6 to a 4.5.This is with the stock 47 helix.I use a 51/43 Dalton helix which tends to over rev slightly..so I added a 1 gram washer with the 4.5 g rivet in the tip.I was wot around 8600 today...not bad...but they pull really good actually
I use w-y-w primary also(stock) Stock set up for 2ndary is Red spring at 80.With the 51/43 I use Green at 70..

That's not that bad for fuel mileage is it?

it all depends how many times you pin it .Last time I calculated the mileage at about 11.36 mpg.If I just rode like a normal person, probably would be in around the 13 mpg mark.I would be worried if it was around 8mpg..I think my SRX gets about the same as my SXR600..so that ain't bad if you compare that.

I too still had some fuel left in the tank so this is what I did with my kids today . We have a small man-made lake (more like a pond) behind our house.
They will sleep well tonight.

Went out today and put on another 36 miles, its a little warm..but saving my gas for when it gets real cold next week.
Well I tried the 8dn-20's again with stock spring...4.5 in and 5.5 out and this time instead of the 51/43 Green/70 and over revving to 8600...I went to 47 helix Red/80 and ended up wot only 8100 to 8200 max..but still hit 100 on speedo. What a difference between the 2 helix's.Seems like maybe a 45 helix would be right. Now instead of drilling out the tip rivets and removing the washers and go with just 4.5 rivets..can I not get the same results by just adding 2 or 3 engagement shims to raise my wot rpms.Maybe would pu more mph with the extra 300 rpms I am losing...helix choice's sure change things.Just want to get stock set up perfect..
