I just installed a new track and now have an oil leak from the chain case when sled is sitting in the trailer. Does not appear to be comming from the lower drive cog bearing seal because i can stick my finger in from the tunnel side and it seems to be dry. But i cant get a finger or mirror to the bottom of the chain case cover gasket to see if thats the place its leaking from. it is dripping out very slowley from about four inches fwd of the chain case through the lower plastic. I wanted to see if anyone else has had the gasket leak before. It looked ok to me when i put it on. Worse case i will wait a day or two and see if it stops leaking when the oil level gets below the bearing. I would much rather change the gasket and not the oil seal. Thanks for any input.

check your drain plug and make sure the little rubber seal is on it..or if the bolt is loose.Or maybe your gasket is pinched, but hard to see that happen the way the gasket sits on the case.Maybe you have a crack in it...I have had mine of so many times over 5 years and gasket is always in good shape.Good luck

its on my srx. I went out this morning and checked it again found a little bit of oil on floor but nowhere near as bad as it was when it was full. It seems to have stopped leaking, the oil level is at the bottom of the arrow for STD. I had serviced it to the top of the arrow. I dont see any oil leaking from the bottom drive shaft seal. Drain plug does not have any oil leaking from it. I think either the case gasket is pinched or the case is cracked. Im really hoping for the gasket to be pinched or bad. I have the stuff to do a dye pen inspection if i need to.

its probably oil that leaked down when you removed your cover and slowly works it way out down in front and down to the floor.I get that sometimes when changing the oil or changing gears.Even if your drain all the oil from the plug, there still will be some that drops down in chassis thru the little drain hole in front of it and some streams downward also.I usually stick a bunch of paper towels under the chaincase and the side of it pointing towards the front to catch most of it.Probably nothin to worry about.Check your oil dip stick once in a while also.

You may need a new gasket. They get old and squished, can leak after reinstalling them. Thats what mine did anyway.
