I am gonna premix my viper and use it for a back up for this up coming watercross season, can I just delete it and premix or do I have to have the case drilled for the PTO bearings? My main sled is a ski doo and its a mod so I just want a reliable back up this year since im in Pro class to keep points up..

you can delete it, just make block off plate for back of engine. I would run good oil like amsoil dominator at 45:1 to get good protection.

dont forget to block off hoses/nipples on case.

What about water pump/oil pump drive shaft bearings?
The oil pump force lubes the water pump drive shaft bearings on all the Yamaha tripples.
If you remove and block off the case oil pump mount surface with a plate, you can attach a hose to the fitting on case that lubes the bearings and run it vertically filled with oil to lube the bearings.

I had a 02 MM with a Hauck 760 with race porting and 215 psi compression and ran Klotz all the time and everytime I tore the enging down to inspect stuff everything was like new. Then I had a Amsoil rep give me 2 gallons of dominator and I tore the engine down after 2 tanks, and that was a pre mix sled 32-1 and I had to replace 2 pistons replate 1 cyl and the crank was so bad I just bought a new one.. Went back to klotz and it ran perfect as usual..
Thanks for the Pre Mix tips for my viper..

it will still be ok for a race only engine, you can squirt some oil in the cavity if youll sleep better at night. have not had any problems yet with it, this is for racing only not for long operation times.

perhaps your overly rich mixture at 32:1 was your problem, as the more oil you add to gas the LEANER the engine runs.........

Sounds good....I have never tried elliminating the oil pump on a Yamaha tripple so didn't realize it wasn't an issue for the pump shaft bearings.

I will make a plate and drip bottle just to be safe for the water pump/oil bearings, with the heat watercross creates I guess It would be a good Idea, better safe than sorry..

why eliminate the feed to the crankcase? u could run a line from the check valve that usually feeds the fuel pump and run it back into the oil reservoir.

at some point running to much oil will decrease performance anyways, as burning oil will not produce much expansion.

of course u would have to plug port on fuel pump
