Howdy. Finally got the sleds going. Was cleaning carbs and my son's 01 MM700 had all three float bowls full of oil. First thought, the oil pump must be shot. It ran fine when loaded on the trailer last year and hasn't been started since. I pulled the rope a few times and sure enough, all three fuel lines pumping pure oil.

Oil pump toast?

Thanks

may be as simple as a stuck check valve in the oil line or a kinked or block vent line.

the oil pump pumps oil through the fuel pump then to the carbs via the fuel line. oil may have saturated the system by simple gravity during storage. inspect the lines as well as the check valve before replacing the pump.

sounds like an odd occurence since in theory the engine would have to be turning to pump oil.

Thanks Snowdad.... I will check. Very odd occurance. The only other information I forgot to add was that on the last ride last year the boy rolled it into a tree well. It was a good 15 minutes before I was able to get it uprighted. However, after that he ran it the rest of the day without any obvious, long term, excessive smoking. So I thought perhaps an air bubble somewhere maybe left over from that. I don't know..... it is odd. I will check as you suggest before I order a fuel pump.

==> after questioning my son, he said he did try to start it last time we had snow at the house (getting the jitters), but it would not start. That's the only extra info i have. Anyway, get back to it as soon as I can and relay findings.

Like snowdad4 said, the oil is mixed in the fuel pump. If it sat for several months, most likely the gas evaporated and the oil was left if the bowls.

Thanks, I checked that out too. Just havn't had time to get back to it. I appreciate all the input. I will report findings for other's future reference.
