Is it possible to install DCS on an 01 SRX? I assume you will need the sensor and CDI. What about the wiring harness? Can it be modified or is it totally differnet. With the poor gas now days I'd love to have the DCS for security.

Litterally anything is POSSIBLE...How bad do you want it. Prolly would be easier to buy an 02 ready to ride or wrecked and transplant everything to older chassis.
It's possible, I have the parts list here somewhere, but I think all in all, the parts were like $1000 or something

Yeah, 1000.00 is too much. I'd love to pick up an 02 but my 01 is almost mint so hate to part with it. Guess I'll just have to make sure to keep carbs good and clean.

I will be doing this to my 2000 SRX over the summer! Purchased a complete wiring harness from a 2002, and as well the coolant rail with DCS sensor. I'll pick up a new 2002 stator to complete the change over.

Don't think you even need the stator....check the part numbers from 2000/01/02/ and the 03+ vipers...I think they are all the same.

Well, if you were to have a partially plugged jet, poor quality fuel or extremely cold temps the dcs may save you s motor.
yeah it will work with cdi and the rail and the 02 harness but if u run a can or anything that is not stock a 01 stock will go by u with the same jetting with a can and stay out in front no doubt he may be lean but my 02 takes the 01 out to 1000 feet after that he leaves me by a sled lenght as i watch my light flash and retard the timing 3 then 6 owe well it it will save ya but so wont doin a plug check just my 2 cents worth

I would never elliminate the DCS on my 02 for trail riding....but....for those days I am going head to head on the lake, I have installed a "dummy" DCS sensor that is rubber insolated under the handle bar pad.
I have also installed a three way selector switch:
-position 1...stock DCS sensor
-position 2...no DCS sensor[sleds a dog]...like a Corvette Valet switch
-position 3...dummy DCS sensor[acts like a 2001 CDI]
So when I want to go head to head I put the Vent lines in the airbox[to lean it out] and put the switch in position 3 for the dummy DCS sensor and I'm good to go!
Works for me!

How about this... Race day - known (GOOD) 93 octane fuel - simply switch out 02 CDI with 01 CDI ???
