2001 700 SXR. Was told removing middle layer of head gasket caused reliability issues. So far I've got the Tempa Flow, reed spacers, coated stock pipe and the Bender "quiet" can. I would like to go with the increased compression if there are no
problems. Premium fuel is no problem.

wont cause any trouble, have done a 100 of them, never had any back. You can run 142.5 mains all the way across, drop needles a half shim, and let her rip, those engines are way fat stock!!! If your gonna run good fuel, you will love the way it wakes it up!

Mr Viper knows his $hit. My SXr has over 3000 trouble free miles with one layer removed and smaller jetts than he advised. Run with it. You will love the crispness. Dont forget to drop the needles. That alone is worth it. :WayCool:

Same here. 02' 700MM,single layer,142.5,2.5 on the needles, But no Tempaflow. 2200 miles. ;)! Soc

Don't try to run the 142.5s with the Tempaflow. Too lean. I'm running 146.3s with the Tempaflow at 300ft altitude (Anchorage).

jetting and the tempa-blow

Guess I should have posted, didnt notice you said had a tempa-blow, you DONT need the tempa-blow with this set up, it will be spot on, and we took a sxr with this set up to Canada last year and it was fine at -25!! have ridden in temps of +40 with it too, still good, but not nearly as crisp as normal, but with this you can sell the tempa-blow to one of your enemies.

water: it leans the mid range, those sx,sxr motors are pig rich!!!

I have 2 layers removed on my 2000 SX700R and 1800kms later no problems.
I dont think you will find anybody here that has had problems with that mod.
2 layers for my machine was recommended by a Yamaha mechanic.
