srx V-force 2 question

Mrviper, 9801srx, or anyone else that might know. was wondering if they might of had an early and late versions of the VF2's. As was discussed in a recent classified the gray caged ones are 2's, 1s and 3s had black cages. but also I had found that 2's are supposed to have a recessed lip at the reed tips. the set I already had have this recessed lip, the set I bought from the ad doesn't. both cages have the same markings and both are gray, although my old set are a lot lighter in color. here's a closeup pic. my old set on the right, just purchased set on left

I have a few 2s and I have 1 set with the recessed lip. I think they r older ones.

Just went and looked at a set I have on a spare SRX engine in the shop and they were not recessed...I seem to remember that the early VForce2s had a problem and were updated.

Could you remove the lip to remove that portion of the problem? What were the other problems with those version of reeds? I have a set that I have alot of time invested in in removing the die parting lines(blueprinting).
