New guy with a question about trailering. Up until now I have been able to trailer my 1997 Venture 600 with the fuel tank almost empty. With the poor snow conditions in Northern Wisconsin and the U.P. I may be forced to trailer to a starting point. The manual says to trailer the sled with the fuel level below carbs due to possibility of hyd lock. Has anybody had any experience hauling the snowmobile with the sled tank full? Any input on this would be appreciated. Thanks

I try to avoid going with a full tank of gas in sleds nothing to do with the carbs though. I have a two place trailer with those really small wheels and i try to keep the load as light as i can. my wife used to have a viper and i had it covered and up on a tail stand for a few months during the summer when i went to pull it over in the fall i could not it had hyd locked. fuel made it through the carb float down the engine and filled the exhaust pipe all the way up. Needless to say i was really lucky it did not pull over. I dont know if a float stuck or if it was due to being on a tail stand that was too tall. But to answer your question i dont see how pulling it with a full tank of gas would be a major problem.

Thanks bluemonster1... I finally got around to putting a shutoff valve in the fuel line. Now I can run the carbs dry for long term storage also. Good tip.
