Aftermarket oil cable adjustment

First off, I have done a search on here and other sites and found several threads on this subject, but nothing is really making sense to me without pictures. I just bought an aftermarket throttle/oil cable to raise my bars up a little more. They are already raised up and the stock cables are maxed out. The aftermarket oil cable has an adjustment in the middle but does not pull apart and measure like the stock one. Of course it did not come with instructions on how to properly adjust the stupid thing.
I did figure out a method to adjusting it, but wanted to make sure if it sounded right to you guys. With the stock cable still installed I taped the throttle wide open and with a caliper measured the distance between the bracket and the oiler arm at it's closest point (see picture below)

Then removed the old cable and installed the aftermarket cable and set it to the same measurement with the throttle at wide open. The oil lever is now opening and closing to the same positions as the old cable was. I do realize that I need to moniter the oil usage now but just figured this was a way to get it darn close without any motor problems. Does this make sense? Thanks, Soc :confused:
 

I bought them from Rich motorsports on here. There was no label on them or adjustment instructions, but he said they were Powermadd. They are nice cables, they just don't pull apart and adjust like the stock Yamahas do.
 
I need to make a correction to what I said earlier... maybe I had one to many beers when I put it in and checked it or it was real late and I was tired... but the RSI oil cable does NOT pull apart. Now I recall setting it similar to the way you described it. -Andy
