I read somewhere that a rebuild trick was to put a thin layer of yamahabond on the crank seal seats.
I of course completed my rebuild before reading this. So I was wondering if the crank seals will be fine without the yamabond? I didn't see where the book called for this technique so I'm hoping that it's not a biggie. However, I'm sure the technique is probably a good one. Any thoughts on this one?

I dont put any on them, just make sure case is clean and insert them in the groove. I do wipe some grease inside them so when i start up a new engine the seal isnt heated up and have life taken away from it till the gas/oil mixture gets to it to lube it.
I have put together 1 or 2 engines now and never had a problem yet.
