headed out this weekend to do some freindly oval ice racing with a couple of buddies, track is about the size of a football and was a blast last weekend, could hit about 85 mph on the straights, looks like we'll have about 1"of hardpacked snow on the whole track, any ideas on some quick clutching changes or other mods/changes to help me defend the title? my sled is a 99 srx 600 with 204 studs, thinking maybe some dooley carbides? other sleds were a 98 zr600, 97 zr 440, 93 phazer, 01 edge 600, 97 mach 1 700, 00 xc 800......racing was done in like a nascar style with rolling starts and such.........will post vids

With 204 studs you will be pushing real bad. When oval racing the key is handling. As you enter the turns you will push so bad that you will have to lift off the gas until you slow down enough to turn. To combat this I would pull up on the front limiter strap as far as you can go so that very few studs are touching the ice. The result will be that you can stay on the gas farther into the corner. also you can pick up the throttle sooner. Sharp carbides specifically for oval racing wouldn't hurt either. I love oval racing too.

alright, i will be racing against a 98 zr600efi, 97 zr 440, 93 phazer, 01 edge 600, 02 zr600, 03 rev 600 136, 96 vmax 500, 88 wildcat 650 and possibly a 06 F5 so it should be some interesting racing especially if we run a race with all 9 guys
