can't figure what is going on .Last week noticed my toe out was way to much, like 1.25 out.So now I have toe out at maybe 1/8 inch.It just seems like steering is super hard.Taking corners at any speeds I am really forcing the bars with both hands.I have 6 inch 90 degree carbides and that should be no issue. I removed the shaper bars that were on them and put on regular bars instead..both are 6 inch carbide runners. On my 600 with the Kimpex dual runners I can swing the ski's easily with ease. When slowly down even to make a turn it is really a chore to turn. This has me stumped.Ski's are USI single runner ski's.I loosened the limiter straps more and opened the gap on the transfer rods to transfer more back.Does not make any sense at all.It feels like someone is trying to pull the bar one way as I am trying to push the other way.Today was a warmer day and the snow was sugar like.SRX sure don't like the deeper snow, was really struggling through it in some spots..got belt marks on the clutch's.I am running 8dn-20's with 4.5 each hole and 47 helix at 80 wrap.Only could hit about 97 on speedo today and rpm's were 8500 wot..SRX has not impressed me so far this season..

If you prop up the front end, is it still hard to turn? Bad shock/spring somewhere? bent suspension? Just throwing some things out there.....
check your ski shocks. may be time for a rebuild. had a similar issue a few years back, all the nitrogen had leaked from one shock yet the spring was holding it up. made steering a chore until i had the shocks rebuilt.

Grease your spindles maybe. Just and idea . They could be frozen
Seen that lots

I lifted it up last night and she swings let and right easy as pie..so no binding there.Everything is greased up always.Just using standard 6 inch 90 degree carbides..can't see that making it hard to turn.If there is any time left to ride next week I may switch ski's from my 600,they are the stock ski's I am using from an XTC here. The dual runner Kimpex is a nice ski as well, but sure can see it dig in hard and slow you down some.

I have Ohlins up front and they are working, have them set at standard 7 clicks out.I even tried them at 12 clicks out,but thought a little less pressure maybe ski's won't dig in as much.Damn SRX is just to heavy up front I guess...snowdad4 said:check your ski shocks. may be time for a rebuild. had a similar issue a few years back, all the nitrogen had leaked from one shock yet the spring was holding it up. made steering a chore until i had the shocks rebuilt.
if you have too much rear carbide bias, the sled will turn hard. sometimes, people over shim the carbides.
check your spindles for being bent or twisted. there is a dot on the top that will line up with either forward or back dead center.

i see now that you are running usi mounts. is the hole your using in the same location as the stock mount. When you use these on usi skis on a yamaha, you need to use the rear hole. using the front will cause heavy stearing. this might be your issue.

I actually took the USI mounts off and used stock Yamaha mount so I could get a little more height .Of course it is the the one and only hole there.I did also do the shim trick under rear of the rubber.Nothin is bent or broke on the front either.BETHEVIPER said:i see now that you are running usi mounts. is the hole your using in the same location as the stock mount. What do you mean by rear hole..the very last hole or 1 hole back of the center hole...????

here is a mount..betheviper..which hole do you recommend...it must be the larger hole back that the bushing would go into..I thought I used the rear holes years back and the sled was all over the place. You would hit soft powder at 70 mph and the ski's were uncontrollable and you have to hang on with dear life to not flip the sled over sideways because the ski's would just wann a crank side to side instantly..

what kind of ski's you using or is it that you just haven't eaten your wheaties in the morning...lolSRX500kid said:have the same problem but i just delt with it shure i feel like crap at the end of the day but o well
if they are stock skis and it is turning hard with the weight on the sled, I would start with the rear skid. If your lower mount has turned, it will with the same setings, put more weight on the front end. If you used to use the lower mounts and installed the taller ones, you have added weight. If your ski rubber has an S on the front of them, they will not need as much shimming if any compared to the plain ones. make sure that the lower thrust section of your bushing is still intact, I have seen hard landings cut these off, then it is steel on steel, this will make it steer hard.
these are just a few things to look for.

I remember going thru this years ago and you did explain it to me to use rear holes, just didn't think of it this time.I was using the Kimpex Arrows last year.I find them Arrows really turn nice and all..but seem to be have a lot of resistance against the slightly packed snow.
The USI skis with stock mount does feel like someone or something is holding me back..can feel it up front .I will go to the rear holes but want to shim the saddles up 3/4" since my carbides have long threads on them.I need to have clearance for my drive on dolly system. With the USI saddles by themselves Ican't slide the dolly under the belly of sled..
I know there were some white rectangle blocks that sit in the cut out of the saddles in the middle.I can't find them now..were they like 1/2 inch thick, have to make something up.
Thanks betheviper

betheviper..I moved the bolt to the rear holes on the saddles like I mentioned and took her out today. What a difference for sure, steering is back.Might have a bit of darting, but the snow was deeper and tracks from sleds and uneven surface could contribute towards that.On a very smooth area I ran for 6 km's and she is running true.I also put on shaper bars with 6 inch 90 degree carbides. She takes the corners great now.Tightened the Ohlins to 14 clicks to stop ski lift on the inside.Basically it hauls in the corners even though it was rough and uneven in most of the corners.,
