Finally got to ride the Viper! And hard restart
Well....Finally got a chance to get out on the Viper yesterday. First real ride of the season. Had my trusty copilot onboard (My 9 yr. old son Tyler) and the wife was on her Polaris Supersport with the 2-up seat installed. Tyler lasted about 20 min. on that seat and then wanted to ride with dad cause mom doesn't go fast enough (ohhh boy).
I had put the 53/43 Pioneer helix, with green spring wrapped at 70 in the fall. Fuel screws are set at 2 turns out and I've got my needles set at 4th groove, both washers on top per Mr. Viper and have chomping at the bit to try it out. Sled seemed to pull alot better. Didn't really have the room to open it up but a noticable improvement over stock. Temps were about 32-33* and no blubbering. Only problem that I noticed, was after riding for a while and shutting sled down, she was a little stubborn to fire back up. Tried no throttle, 1/8th throttle. Just seemed really rich to get going again. Certainly not a showstopper but prior to hard riding yesterday, she would fire up after warm with 1/2 pull usually no throttle to 1/8th. Yesterday.......3-4 pulls with 1/8th-1/4 throttle. Again, not a showstopper as she probably wouldn't act like that in 20* weather but figured I'd share anyway.
Other that that, the 12" of snow we got on Thurs. was really nice. Too bad it didn't come in January! 35* out now and raining
!! Gonna try to get out on Monday. Supposed to be about 32* out. May be the last ride of the season unless I do some night riding. Then it's 40-50* all month long! Bummer...... Oh well................ Almost time to get the ol' FJ out.
Ride safe,

Do you have your needles and fuel screws set up the same way?
I ended up going out on Monday. Temps were 30*F. and a little windy. Snow had set up so it was really hard packed. What a difference! Sled hooked up alot better. I have ridden a few 700's and this sled rips! Sneaky, scary fast! She still acted up on restart. I know it would be a PIA to restart in anything warmer than say..37*(That would be embarrassing).
I'm thinking that I should be able to get my fuel screws closer to stock specs now that the needles are fattened up a little or am I way off. Will that make starting the sled warm, easier?
Couple pics from Monday morning> Nothing too crazy. More or less just to get some practice posting to the site. May try to take the boy out for a ride tonight, have to see if we're both up for it when I get home.

I've always loved the look of the Viper! One of the most fierce and aggressive looking sleds out there... even amongst all of the new iron out there.
