For those of you who don't know, I have had this problem for over 1 year now. Motor will rev upto 8,300 RPMS and then fall back to 7,000 after a couple of seconds (motor at this point wil lose most power and motor sounds like it is being loaded. Most people on here pointed towards the clutches, Power Valves and carbs. Here is what I have done so far.

Cleaned, replaced 1 (pull through) and adjusted Power Vaves to spec
Cleaned and adjusted carb (main jet, replaced 3 fuel baffles, cleaned filter hats, synced carbs, etc.
Replaced spring on secondary and 3 buttons
REPLACED primary clutch with a new one, new spring
Replaced both driveshaft bearings, adjusted chain to spec
Replaced front drive shaft (another issues, it broke in half) and went through enitre skid, adjusted track to spec, etc.
Replaced drivebelt (OEM 8DN)
Checked offset on clutches (14.28 mm) and distance (spec). Belt deflection is approx. 1 1/4 inches. Belt rides up 3/8's from top. No belt marks. All 4 sheaves cool to the touch, except fixed primary by the motor.
Replaced all 3 plugs that are gapped correctly
Resistance on Spark plug caps are 5, 5.9, 5.9 (ohms). Should be at 5 across all 3

What else could be causing this? It usally happens when I get on the throttle, release it to 3/4's and then get on it again. Falls flat on its face. The servo motor upon inspection open the valves under 900 rpms, but it stops at 1/2 for a couple of miliseconds and then opens. Does the same thing when it closes. Could this be the issue? The 5.9 resistance on the plug caps? Stator going? Reeds bad (have not checked them yet).

Running out of ideas here and getting pretty pissed off chasing this problem.

have you checked your TPS??? This was causing me a bad running motor last season. After I got the new one re calibrated..sled ran good again..They are around $100.You can do a test on your old one to determine if it is out of wack.

do u run the stock secondary helix..why it run to 8300 only ??

Everything is stock. Spring, wrap, etc. TPS has been tested and it was fine. Could be working intermittently but I can pull 7,500 RPMS all day long, but not 8,300. During shift out, it seems to drop RPMS. Did not check crank and I do not know why I only pull 8,300. Yesterday I was only pulling 8,000. Temp was 37 F.

Sounds like a carb problem of some kind actually alot like my viper if the carb hose to breather box is left off but the srx doesn't have this setup, not much help to ya hope you find it.

Sounds to me like your secondary is not backshifting properly. Do you have another secondary you could try?

I am going to try another secondary once I find a good used cheap one. I never did replace the bushings in the secondary as they looked okay but I did see copper flex. I am tired of sinking money chasing this problem.

yeah i know its bad to change parts for nothing chasing a damm problem..........

It might be. I do not have a dial indicator and the sled it kept 2 hours from me. Just so I am clear, how does a crank drop RPMS from 8,300 to 7,000 after a couple of seconds (when shiftout is occuring)? The new clutch runs pretty true with higher RPMS (both visually and feel).

These are the things I am going to check. Let me know if I am going in the right direction with this.

- Check clutch offset again, Currently at 14.24 mm, increase it to 15.5
- Check for loose/broken motor mounts (somtimes motor vibrates at idle excessively, other times it runs smooth at same RPM which might indicate an intermittent spark on one of the cylnders)
- Switch carbs and TPS with a spare set
- Disconnect Servo with valves fully opened
- Try another belt
- Try another secondary
- ???

Anything I am missing?

Found the problem. After 2 years of searching and buying and trying, I FOUND THE PROBLEM!!!!!!!

Can you guess? Winner gets a chocolate bar.

Hint: Cost me $12.00 in parts.

Bingo. 2 of the three caps was at 5.9 k Ohms. The other was at 5 k. Took 2 NGK plug caps off of my buddys' 92 Skidoo 470 and it worked. Did 100 miles last night and averaged 13 mpg versus 9 from before. I was happy and disappointed at the same time as I spent so much time and money on the clutches, carbs and power valves.

Good to hear. plug caps are also a big contributer to the infamous power bog. The ngk ones will only last a little while(half a season ). I think some engines have a high vibration that destoys plug caps...
