After getting my *** kicked on some bumpy trails riding yesterday I think its time to try and improve the ride on my '00 srx. After doing alot of searching it is still tough to figure out what might be best for me. All I am really looking to do is improve the ride over the bumps without losing its cornering ability. I would like to stick to a simple bolt in swap whether it be a viper skid or just viper shocks. Could someone please point me in the right direction! I am also looking at the long travel kit from pioneer. Maybe that would be a good option?

your only bolt in options would be
1. viper skid or the viper components (not really much of an improvement IMO)
2. or an aftermarket skid with the correct mounting kit (can be expensive)

it doesnt take much work with some mechanical inclination to put in a skid from another sled. mono, sc10III, etc. and can usually be done pretty cheap. the info for most skid swaps can be found here. I've done 4 sc10III installs now and have it down to a few hours. the first one took a weekend.

Hey you sound like me .I have changed my 3 sleds over to sc10s and done one for a friend. These sleds are 2 good to be lifting your ars off the seat for dropouts in the trail. But still find myself doing it now and again.

Ohlins in frt and viper shocks in rear. Replace all the bushings and make sure shocks are good and set-up right makes a HUGE difference. Just did that to mine this season and it rides totally better and have no lower back pains anymore. I just bought an ohlins viper center shock on ebay...cant wait to try that!

IF you skid is still in decent shape, send the shocks out and have pioneer do a revalve and lengthen the shafts, then rebuild the skid, tighten everything up etc... Then buy a boss seat. If you want it a little better, you can do the front end too. the rear is the biggest part of ride. A revalved long travel tight skid rides pretty good.

mono skids are nice with some revalving and reinforcing, very good skid.

pro active can be a good skid with revalving, very close to a skidoo or poo skid other than the design of coupling.

I have a first gen expert (steel bodied shocks) in decent shape, arms are tight, needs idler bearings in some wheels, 500 and shipping if you want an aftermarket skid on a budget.

or you can just install a set of viper update shocks and tighten the skid, even first version viper shocks will ride better than a stock srx skid. for the best ride, though they will fade with pounding, xt gas bag shocks. Xtc shocks ride almost as good, though with both of these, you will need a different front spring.

i put new viper update shocks ( which are '03 ER valving ) on my srx & the ride was better but not great. called bruce @ pioneer & he said to bring them over & he would re-valve. WOW!!! huge difference. now all 4 of my sleds have the same shock/valving set up.
