hey everybody, well i did i alittle testing today. 3 weeks a go i did 96mph in 2000ft, the sled hit 96mph around 1500 to 1700 foot mark but couldnt go any more just stayed 96mph, setup was www 8bn-20 loaded, 23/38 gearing and 54/42 micro helix and green spring wraped @ 70. well i got two new bender helixs 51/47 and 53/48. results 51/47 wraped @ 80 93.6mph @ 8000rpm, @ 70 94mph @8200, @60 94.2mph @8300. 53/48 wraped @ 80 93,4mph @ 8200, @ 70 94.6 @ 8300, and wraped @ 60 96mph @ 8400, all with green spring, the sled gets up to speed really fast and has lots of power, before even getting to the 2000 foot mark the sled would bog/drop rpm and speed. i believe its overshifting, is the finshed angle to steep??
yes those helix are pretty aggresive ....u will need to tuned the primary with those .............they are not drop and race
As you have found out testing the looser the secondary the faster the sleds mph is, so now what youd need to do to use one of those steeper finish angle helix is to either step up the front spring shift pressure slightly or remove some tip weight. I personally would use a y/w/y spring and try it and see if you can be at 8500rpm with your 53/48 with green at 60. You can also use the stock red secondary at 80-90 and it might get more mph and still be trail rideable with decent backshift.
