anybody got one of these rollers with instructions how to install and setup. i have one but i'm having trouble installing it with out the paper work. any help would be appreciated.thanks!
I used these back in the day before I switched to Team secondaries.
Here's the info that came with the kits.
Yamaha E.R. Roller Kit #4000
Installation Instructions
Remove driven clutch from machine and disassemble unit. Thoroughly clean the stationary outside shaft. Install new shaft sleeve over the shaft. Blue locktite is recommended. The new sleeve should be fully seated against the hub. The sleeve should be a light press to a slip fit. Use a light arbor press to fully seat the sleeve. Remove the three phillips head screws from the stationary sheave that hold the washer. Replace the screw with the long bolt that is furnished with the kit. Use the same washer under the long bolt as was used under the screws. Tighten to 30 inch lbs.
Install the new cam over the studs and install the 10 x 24 lock nuts on the new studs.
CAUTION: DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN THESE LOCK NUTS-TORQUE TO A MAXIMUM OF 15 INCH LBS!
The flat on the nut should be parallel to the outside.[if the corner protrudes past the cam outside surface, the nut may interfere with roller ring cover]
Assemble the two sheaves, install the three post extension studs and tighten to 18 foot lbs, using blue locktite. Install the roller ring over the three posts.
NOTE: the number 5 has to be facing down toward the sheave face. Install spring assembly.
NOTE: The spring holes in the stationary sheave will also determine how much torsional twist you have on the cover.
To install the new cover, time the spring holes using #1 or #2 to the stationary sheave holes. Install on spring and preload spring to position #0 on cover slot using original 12mm cover nuts. To adjust spring tension, loosen the cover nuts rotating clockwise. This increases tension. From the #0 mark on the slot turning clockwise is approx 30 degree gain. If more tension is needed , remove the cover and install spring in cover hole marked #3. From the #0 hole on the slotted cover again turn clockwise. This will increase spring tension another 30 degrees. Tighten to factory specs.
NOTE: When tightening the three cover bolts make sure the cover plate is centered over the stud pattern and is completely on the studs. tighten them firmly and install driven clutch on machine using the new clutch bolt washer.
