Not sure but the viper shocks are 17 1/2" long also. You would also have to change the top shock mount to the old sx (i think thats it) style also, the vipers use a different top mount. I dont think there would be any clearance issues. Also check the width of the mounts compared to your mounts. You can make anything fit with a little work.

OK thx I'll check that out.

The bulk head end of the Viper shocks are a clevis type. These are an eyelet type so they will not bolt up directly to a Viper with out them being modified to the clevis or you installing some old SX upper shock mount brackets. Either way you are going to have to do some modifications somewhere.

Ya I was looking at the yami parts catalog and found the SX mount. I'll order those if I decide to go with those shocks don't know if it is worth it, the sleds 10 years old now although it's mint.Mills said:The bulk head end of the Viper shocks are a clevis type. Looking at going down the same road, but with fox floats, 98 sxs mounts will work, just need floats >.<

My shock mounts at the bulkhead look like they're cast into the bulkhead but apparently they aren't, how are they removed?xSnoWx said:Looking at going down the same road, but with fox floats, 98 sxs mounts will work, just need floats >.<

those shocks are too long, even if you did get the sx brackets, they add about .75 inches to the shock length because they mount the stock lower on the bulkhead

Ok with the SX brackets I need a shock length of about 16.75" then would that be right?snoprokidf6 said:those shocks are too long, even if you did get the sx brackets, they add about .75 inches to the shock length because they mount the stock lower on the bulkhead

Ordered the two brackets this morning and checking out some Fox Floats for an AC F1000 16.8" long

You need to look for shocks that are 15" to 16" ctc any longer and the front end will be way too high. Stock shocks with the sx brackets are 13.5" long for reference.

So 15 1/2 ctc would be good, Phazer uses this length ctc apparently.

Yes phazer shocks are a good match, you can get floats or the gyt-r's with the remote reservoir.

Ok thx musselman, just one more question for you, what year Phazer and model would you use for ordering or purchasing?musselman said:Yes phazer shocks are a good match, you can get floats or the gyt-r's with the remote reservoir.

some models had floats, others had the gyt's, think some of the earlier years had regular shocks also
16 and 17 are correct, so far I've found that the fox floats on the cats seem to be 16.5/.8", from what i've seen online the a/c kit 5639-583 is 16.8" and other kits can go up to 19.10"

I run 17.5" f-cat floats on my srx with a 44" ski stance and it is very tall. With the stock viper stance (42") I would not go above 16" long shocks or the steering rods will hit the frame.

Yup going to go with the 15 1/2 - 15 3/4 " shocks for a phazer or phazer mtn, the phazer gytr is about 15 3/4 roughly and the mtn run about 15 1/2 fox floats.
