I have the chance to buy a 820 kit for my srx.Now its the 900 cat pistons and the cylinders are cast not nic'd, can anyone chime in and give me some input on this set-up.It has the cylinders, billet head, pipes, and a turbo'd crank and carbs. $500. Would this be more trouble than it's worth?

sounds interesting. is it stock cylinders with a sleeve?
Comes with the head pipes crank and carbs? And its only 500 bucks? Sounds like fun to me.
for only $500 bucks sounds like trouble if you ask me
on Hauck's website the 900 stroker kit goes for $4000+

My concern is heat, the guy is selling them to me cause he has a apex and no longer as any need for it.+ he is a yamaha mechanic but again all the work he does now is on 4 stroke stuff and this is just sitting on the shelf takin up space. The cylinders are sleeved with some porting done. Thing is I still want the sled to be dependable and I don't know if I add this will it still be dependable?

I have read here the 780's are ALOT more tempermental about timing and are alot less forgiving as far as fuel quality,PV adjustment, carb tuning. Are you just going to race it or is this a trail/ duel purpose sled?

nothing about timing, carb adjustment or powervalve settings are any differnt with a 780 then a stock sled.
Now fuel quality... yes, a 780 needs good premium fuel and is less forgiving to rattling the pistons then a stocker.

780 makes a wonderful trail motor. Just needs good fuel, and proper warm up. My last one was as reliable as an anvil. Only issue I ever had was nothing to do with the top end kit.

x2 i just rooled up 9600 km's on my 780 that don built 5 years ago. 1 set of pistons and two sets of rings just to keep things fresh . if ya treat them right they are just as reliable as a stocker.Mysledblows said:780 makes a wonderful trail motor.
