Hey guys, have an 02 SX Viper with 3000 miles, it has a knocking noise as you take off from a stop slowly, seems to be as the track goes around but I can't see anything wrong. New belt, sliders look ok, track is tight, anyone familiar with this? Maybe it's normal but I dion't remember noticing at the start of the season. Any help greatly appreciated.

check for broken skid parts somewhere..if you have front exchanger protectors..check if one didn't get loose and hit the track like mine did years back.

I blew a belt early in the season because it sucked a spare spark plug up that fell out of the holders. Blew the belt so I went back to an OEM belt. The one that blew was a Ultimax. So the new belt lasted 600 miles before it got a flat spot. It did the same thing at slow speeds. Changed it out and it went away. Try another belt and if its still there I'd look at your drive and jack shaft bearings next.

Could just be the rail tips clicking on the track clips. Get the sled in the air and run the track and see if you can hear/see whats making noise. Like the other guys said a bad belt will also do it.

Seems like I remember someone else last season having similar issue, ended up their snow flap was getting sucked up into tunnel and then would pop back out when they stopped. If I remember correctly it ended up someone following noticed it.
I had a similar issue last year, it went away after swapping skids.
i had the same problem with a different sled when i put new sliders in it clicked then i put a angle on the back of the slider click was gone

you could have a lug riped off your belt happened to my dads viper a couple years ago. could also be the the bar where your front rear shock bolts to. the bolts could be sheared off happened to my srx and had a knocking noise
check your bearings..i had a boggy wheel going in my skid and there was a knocking/ticking sound when goin slow..that same trip the wheel seperated from the bearing and i lost my boggy..changed it out and the ticking went away..just somethin else to check
A couple of bucks

Chain tension, chain case bearing or worn sprocket.

Just to let yahs know, it was the belt. Got stuck a few times on the weekend where I really burnt the belt. Once back on the lake the noise was 10 times worse, so I swapped out the belt and noise is gone, nice and smooth on accell now too. Just one little flat spot that I could see and it was making all that noise each time it would come around. hopefully this helps someone else. Thanks for the help.
