On my 700MM I have SLP pipes. The setup I'm using is almost straight from the SLP spec sheet, jetting and clutching. 8CR weights, 13.3 inner, 10.3 outer. blue/white/blue primary spring. 45 deg. helix with green spring at 70 twist. It calls for stock gearing but because I have stretched it to 162" Tom Hartman suggested I go to 20/40 gearing. The thing runs great on the trails. The RPMs are moving right up to the proper peak(8700-8900) when I hit the throttle w/o running down the trail and are staying cool. All seems to be well. But when I get into deep snow which is where I ride most of the time my RPM's are dropping out of the power band at 3/4 throttle to make controled turns through the trees or carving in the snow my belt is slipping and heating up. If I open the throttle wide open it will build back up to the desired RPM's and not slip . I'm confident that my clutches are clean and right and all is well with all their componets(new). I have messed with the twist on the secondary by increasing it to 80 deg. etc. and even tried a silver spring. Could this possibly be to much weight on the inner hole of my weights? I was thinking of trying this to see if I get an overev situation on the trails. If I'm at 3/4 trottle should Rpm's be in the power band? Does anty of this make sense. Soc

You know, that was one other thing I thought about after posting this. I have been running the 8DN which I know is a hard compound. Maybe I shoud try the XS-805 Ultramax which is a softer compound? Is that what you were going to suggest?

do you have your front vents closed off? slp pipes like to be hot! the snow going thru those vents will cool the pipe down and you will lose power!

No it's not a bog, all vents etc. are closed off and no snow is getting inside the cowling. My belt is slipping.

Try cleaning and then rubbing with scotch-brite scour pads or a light steel wool on the face of the sheaves in a criss-cross pattern. I do that to my clutches every so often and it seems to make a difference when it feels like the belt is starting to slip a little.
