I was out riding and had only been riding for maybe 10 mins when the track started ratcheting real bad at any speed over 10mph! I thought maybe the hyfax were hot as the trail had been mostly moguls with not much loose snow. Well after riding the side of the trail and going through some powder I finally let the machine sit for a few mins, then fired it up again, but to no avail.
So any ideas I came home and tighten the track way up but still seem to have the problem. What could be causing this?

Check your rear suspension, did something break? W arm, shock mounts. Check your chain case. Loose chain.

you may want to check your chain tension. seems odd it would start to ratchet for no apparent reason. but given the speed, a loose chain will act like a ratchet. so will worn gears. whats the drivers look like?

"tighten track way up" leads me to beleive somethings broke/bent and gave you slack in track to begin with. Trail being most moguls aint nice on skid. Speedo still work? Might have a driveshaft bearing on its way out.

The track wasn't too loose, it was looser than I would normally run it but, I didn't have to tighten it all that much to get it to where it's at now.
Also I'm pretty sure it's ratcheting as it feels like it and when I had my brother drive it I could hear the track or something slap...

I had my tensioner back off in my chaincase a couple years ago it sounded just like the track was ratcheting. There were 3 of us riding and we all thought it was the track ratcheting, but when we checked it the track wasn't that loose we tightened it up more and it still "ratcheted". Started checking things out and found that the chain tensioner had backed off. Tightened it up and the noise was gone. Should be an easy enough thing to double check.

Driveshaft bearings went out and blew the bearings out the chain casing sidewall. drained all the oil out as well as ruined the oil seal, bearings, and chain casing.

Yuck. That's too bad.
bearing
Just out of curiousity. When was the last time you replcaced/relubed the bearing? I just wanted to know. Most guys on this site recomend yearly re-grease. Thanks

That was my thoughts in a worse case scenario. Speedo went out didnt it? Did it go out a little while ago or when track started acting up? Theres guys on here that will argue the fact whether speedo and bearings are irrelevant. Every sled I have had (cats and poos too) when the speedo goes out the bearing needed replaced. I am sure theres ben a cable break, or speedo gear go bad with good bearings but I have yet to have that scenario in my experience.
