Relocating the coils...

I've purchased a set of coils and bracket on Ebay from a 2001 sx700r. I'm relocating the coils on my 98 700sx from the airbox to the cyl heads like the 2001 and newer redheads. Can I use the 2001 coils or do I need to stick with the 98 coils.

Not sure of the exact answer. I beleive the 01 had a hotter stator. Pretty sure 01 was first year for dual bulb in sxr. I would check stator output from 01 to 98 and go from there. Might be able to use 01 on 98 but I wouldnt try 98 coils on a 01.

I checked 2 online stores and aftermarket part numbers are the same. Worth a try I suppose.
